Welcome to Omega for OS/2 Ver.0.80.2
=====

"Omega for OS/2" is a rogue-like multi-dungeon game which runs on
IBM OS/2 platform.
This game is based on Omega version 0.80.2 and is implemented some more
features in it (see release note for detail).

o Hardware/Software Requirement

   PC/AT or its compatibles
OS/2 Warp operating system (Ver.3 or later)
   2MB RAM for the application
   800KB disk space

o Installing and Starting the Game

Decompress the archive and put the files and folders on your disk.
At least 'omega.exe,' 'ominst.cmd' and 'omegalib' must be in the same folder.
The script 'ominst.cmd' will install the application on the Desktop. Start it
and follow the message.

Double-click the 'omega' icon on the WorkPlace Shell and start the game.
You can also double-click a saved file's icon to continue the game (although
the saved file will be deleted after loading).
If you wish to start Omega from command prompt, then you should specify
the path to it or arrange 'PATH' statement in CONFIG.SYS to enable the system
to parse the executable.

And, you can play the game with various screen sizes set by 'mode'
command of OS/2. Some samples follow:
 'mode co80,36' - 80x36 character screen
 'mode co80,50' - 80x50 character screen
Screen size must be larger than or equal to 80x25. (But the column number
larger than 80 will leave some meaningless space because the width of omega's
console is not designed to expand.)

o TODO first in the Game

If you double-click the 'omega' icon, you will see the title screen
and high score board. After that, you will be asked which way to select,
"run a character" or "play yourself." If you choose [r] then the character
is determined by random number (you can still re-roll them). If you choose
[p] then you are asked some (/many?) questions to determine the character
from your personality, and the result will be saved (by your choice) to
the '.omegarc' file and it can be used for the new games afterwards.
And note that the player's default name might be set to "Root" (but it can
be changed by 'R' command during the play).

While you're playing, you can use '?' command to display help messages
on the screen. To read the outlines for the game, choose "a: Overview."
To learn about commands, choose "l: Dungeon/City/Other Command List" or
"m: Countryside Command List."

o Release Note

I ported the source from Omega version 0.80.2, and also ported curses
library from PCcurses version 1.4 and PDCurses version 2.2.

Omega is copyright (c) 1987,1988,1989 by Laurence Raphael Brothers
   Maintained by Erik Max Francis

PCcurses was made by Bjorn Larsson (900114).

   PDCurses is public domain software.
   Maintained by Mark Hessling.

And I fixed bugs and added some features by public demand:
in version 0.80.2
 1. '^p' command saves 20 messages (10 in the original)
 2. Return key and Enter key can be used to exit "*** MORE ***" status.
 3. Escape key can be used to exit the bank (Only 'X' command can do in the
   original).
 4. Some messages and screen drawing are changed to fit the situation.
