Program Description: Public-Domain (please distribute) review of OS/2 Performance Beta I (AmiPro and ASCII versions)

*** This is a replacement for the previously uploaded os2beta.zip ***
*** ASCII Version now included : sorry, no screenshot in ASCII version ***

The article is a comprehensive and objective review of the strengths and weaknesses of the OS/2 Performance Beta I. The package contains both an Ami Pro document in a newsletter format with an embedded TIFF screenshot, and an ASCII version of the same article without the screenshot. The Ami Pro version can be opened under both Ami Pro for OS/2 and Ami Pro for Windows 3.0. See below for more info.

This is an article I wrote for a Canadian magazine called The Computer Paper. I am now releasing it into the public domain. I urge all OS/2 advocates to print off the article and submit it to their local newspaper (find out who does the computer column) and any local computer mags. You may modify the About The Author section to your name.

** Do not submit it to The Computer Paper in Canada, they already have it. **

It is in Ami Pro 3.0 (OS/2 or Windows) format and has an embedded gray-scale TIFF. I have also included the same article in ASCII format, without the screenshot or formatting.

Requirements for viewing (ASCII version):

The ascii version has no linefeeds except for paragraph breaks. This means it needs to be viewed with an editor that supports word wrap, such as the OS/2 System Editor (E.EXE) or Windows Notepad (NOTEPAD.EXE).

Requirements for printing/viewing: (Ami Pro version)

	1) Ami Pro for OS/2 or Ami Pro For Windows 3.0

	2) Optional: Franklin Gothic ATM font (on the ATM font disk that comes w/Ami Pro)

	3) Gray-scale-capable display (SVGA)

You may need to fool around with the Image->Halftone settings for the TIFF to get it to print nicely. I have a Deskjet and it prints very nicely with the current setting in the file. If you have a PostScript, you may have to set it to Direct To Printer.

E-mail me if this doesn't make sense.
