1. CHINESE MINISTRY OF ELECTRONICS INDUSTRY ENDORSES OS/2 WARP

The Ministry of Electronics Industry of the People's Republic of China
and IBM have agreed to use the OS/2 Warp software platform, in
conjunction with Lotus Notes groupware, in their effort to establish
specifications for Chinese computing platform standards.

Under this agreement, the Ministry agrees to endorse OS/2 Warp as a
preferred product and recommend it to users. Meanwhile the Special
Committee on Chinese Computing Platform will invite IBM and Lotus to act
as correspondent members. The Special Committee will recommend
character fonts, character style and input methods which are consistent
with Chinese standards, to expedite the standardization of OS/2 Warp and
Lotus Notes.

This is the first time that the Ministry has officially endorsed a
specific product for computer users. It is also the first time that the
Ministry has invited a foreign company to join the Special Committee on
China's Computing Platform.

2. WHY I CHOSE OS/2 (SECOND IN A SERIES)

Why are people choosing OS/2 Warp instead of Windows? These answers,
which come from a wide range of computer users, cut through the hype.

                     Because of its Value
                     ====================

John Robinson
Systems Manager
South Carolina Department of Recreation and Tourism

"With OS/2 Warp Connect you get Warp, you get LAN Server client, you get
Lotus Notes Express, and TCP/IP. There's really no better product on
the market for the money."

BOTTOM LINE: IBM is committed to delivering valuable, effective
software at the best price.

              Because of its 32-bit Performance
              =================================

Brent Byrd
Director, Technical Services
Lee Apparel

"The fact that it has a 32-bit engine, the fact that it has faster
graphics, the fact that it can support all our Windows 3.1
applications, the fact that it can install faster, the fact that
we're delivering solutions to the business, these are the
important things."

BOTTOM LINE: OS/2 Warp is built from the ground up to be
fast and powerful - what a 32-bit operating system should be.

3. FULL-PAGE ADS REAFFIRM OS/2's FUTURE

Below is the text of the OS/2 ad that ran in the Wall Street Journal
and New York Times on August 22. This ad complements our 8/15/95
customer ad and further elaborates on our position.

WHAT'S THE FUTURE OF OS/2 NOW THAT WINDOWS 95 IS SHIPPING?

The future of OS/2 is very bright, thank you.

It's hard to ignore the fact that a certain competitor is shipping
a certain piece of software. But even in this blizzard of hype, we
believe the fundamental difference between our products is stark
     and clear.

Windows 95 is a 32-bit operating system designed to improve the
     user experience on individual desktops.

O/2 is all of this, and much more. It's designed to connect all
kinds of computers, large and small, at work or at home--for
companies and people whose success depends on the most reliable
     performance.

That's a huge difference. And it's anything but theoretical. OS/2
has been out there for seven years, becoming part of the world's
     business fabric.

It's the engine that runs most of the banking industry's automatic
cash machines. And controls the cash registers in fast food chains
and department stores. And makes reservations on the busiest
airline systems. It's in use wherever downtime simply cannot be
     tolerated.

But exactly what makes OS/2 such a reliable choice? It offers true
multitasking and Crash Protection. It's one smooth, seamless
operating system that works on PCs from the servers in the computer
room to the notebook in your living room. It offers dependable
connections inside a company's network and out to the Internet.
It's a whole family of products, for different size customers with
different size needs. All with the same, easy way of working.

And most important, it's more than a promise. OS/2 is polished,
perfected and battle tested in its third release, hard at work for
millions of users. It powers more PC application servers than any
other system on the planet (including the vast majority of those
     running Lotus Notes).

Will all of this change with the arrival of Windows 95?

Not one bit. The importance of connected computers in our lives
will keep growing exponentially. Our need to be connected,
everywhere from the office to the plane to the lounge chair in the
backyard, is becoming a way of life.

That's what OS/2 is all about. It doesn't come with all the hype.
We don't even have a rock song. But rest assured, we're working
hard to make PCs work even better.

So if you're thinking about changing operating system software,
think about what it is you'd like to accomplish. Because the
choices are now very easy to see.

4. OS/2 WARP SERVER BETA GETS FAVORABLE REVIEWS

Since its release last week, OS/2 Warp Server Beta has been greeted
very positively by the press, as these clippings indicate:

OS/2 WARP SERVER BETA SENDS USERS INTO ORBIT Laura DiDio,
 ComputerWorld, 8-21-95

"OS/2 Warp Server melds the best features of the enhanced OS/2
operating system with the company's LAN Server 4.0 network operating
system, including file, print and application services and true object-
 oriented capabilities."

IBM TESTS OS/2 WARP SERVER Joseph C. Panettieri and Caryn Gillooly,
 InformationWeek, 8-28-95

"Warp Server is like Ragu (spaghetti sauce)--all the network
administration tools are in there," says Bob Sakakeeny, an analyst with
 the Aberdeen Group.

IBM SHIPS OS/2 WARP SERVER BETA Jason Pontin and Paul Krill, InfoWorld,
 8-21-95

"I like the idea a lot. I can tell you from our experience with the
bundling of products in OS/2 Warp Connect, installation is a dream,"
said David Dupre, an OS/2 user and associate systems programmer at
Provident Life and Accident Insurance. "If they can do the same for
the server product, there couldn't be a more welcome solution for OS/2
 sites."

A CAUTIONARY GUIDE TO WINDOWS 95 WEEK
 Dan Farber, PC Week, 8-20-95

"Warp Server differentiates itself [from Unix and NT) by including
integrated systems-management software for asset management, software
licensing, distribution, and resource monitoring. In addition, the
backup and recovery tools are complete and support a variety of
 platforms."

5. DBRUNNER HELPS MANAGE DB2 FOR OS/2 DATABASES

PLATINUM Technologies has released PLATINUM DBRunner Version 1.0, a new
GUI-based tool that automates the task of keeping DB2 for OS/2 databases
consistent across an enterprise.

DBRunner enables DBAs and application programmers to efficiently execute
four key functions when managing DB2 for OS/2 databases in distributed,
multiple-server environments:

  1. Synchronizing versions
  2. Merging changes
  3. Migrating database structures from one database to another
  4. Moving test databases into production for the first time

The starting list price for DBRunner is $1995 per server, and varies
depending on the number of servers.
