planar board on specific models of Netfinity and IBM eServer
        xSeries servers
      - Automatic Server Restart (ASR) which is built onto the
planar board of specific models of xSeries servers
      - Remote Supervisor Adapter, which is an option on specific models
        of xSeries servers

2.0 Change History
-------------------

2.1 Advanced System Management Device Driver version 1.25 to 1.26

For xSeries and Netfinity servers with the Advanced System
          Management Processor running OS/2:

Fixed a bug that intermittently affected an internal
               system timer.

For xSeries and Netfinity servers with the Advanced System
Management PCI Adapter card, or the Advanced System Management
Processor, or the Remote Supervisor Adapter:

The SCO UnixWare driver now supports Caldera Open UNIX 8,
and there are new device driver installation instructions
that apply to both SCO UnixWare and Caldera Open UNIX. See
               section 3.0, below.

For supported xSeries and Netfinity servers running Windows 2000
          or Windows NT:

Due to space limitations on this diskette image, the WIndows
2000 and Windows NT system management device drivers are no
longer packaged on this diskette image. They are available on
their own diskette image from IBM's download site. For the
location of the IBM web site, please see section 5.0, below.

          For Netfinity server models 4500R, 5000, 5100, 5500, 5500-M10,
          5500-M20, 5600 and xSeries server models 230, 240 and 340 running
OS/2 Warp Server for eBusiness Convenience Pack 1:

Changes were made to the OS/2 driver to support this new
               version of OS/2.

2.2 Advanced System Management Device Driver version 1.24 to 1.25

For xSeries server models 220, 232 and 342 running Windows NT,
Windows 2000, Novell NetWare, or SCO UnixWare with the Remote
          Supervisor Adapter installed:

A minor update was made to the IBM Advanced System Management
device drivers to support a change in the firmware that runs
the Remote Supervisor Adapter. These new drivers are also
compatible with earlier versions of the Remote Supervisor
               Adapter.

2.3 Advanced System Management Device Driver version 1.23 to 1.24

For all xSeries and Netfinity server models running Windows 2000 with
          service processor hardware installed:

Added a setup utility program for use in upgrading or installing
the drivers. See the Windows 2000 installation topic in
               section 3 below.

For xSeries 232 and 342 servers running NetWare without the
Remote Supervisor Adapter, and for xSeries 300 servers running
          NetWare:

The IBM Advanced System Management device driver for Novell
NetWare now supports the Automatic Server Restart (ASR) feature
on these servers. The driver automatically detects the ASR
hardware so no additional installation steps are necessary from
those listed in the NetWare installation topic in section 3
               below.

2.4 Advanced System Management Device Driver version 1.22 to 1.23

Added support for future IBM xSeries eServers.

3.0 System Management Device Driver installation instructions
--------------------------------------------------------------

Note: The Netfinity Manager application program must be stopped before
any of these service processor device drivers can be installed.
Please refer to the section 4.0 of this document for instructions
on how to stop the Netfinity Manager program.

By following the installation instructions shown below, the correct
System Management Device Driver will be automatically installed onto your
     Netfinity Server.

If the installation is being done from this diskette, insert this
diskette into the server's floppy diskette drive, bring up a command
prompt window, screen, or session, and enter one of the following
commands. The examples shown below assume the floppy drive is A:.

If the installation is being done from the Advanced Systems Management
Utilities CD-ROM, insert this CD-ROM into the server's CD-ROM drive,
bring up a command prompt window, screen, or session, and enter one of
the following commands. The examples shown below assume the CD-ROM
     drive is D:.

     For OS/2, type:
A:\OS2\SETUP (if installation is from a diskette)
               or
          D:\DD\OS2\SETUP (if installation is from a CD-ROM)
Follow the directions that appear on the screen

For Novell NetWare type one of the following lines in the System Console
          Session:
LOAD A:\NETWARE\SETUP (if installation is from a diskette)
               or
LOAD D:\DD\NETWARE\SETUP (if installation is from a CD-ROM)
Follow the directions that appear on the screen

For SCO UnixWare and Caldera Open UNIX:
NOTE: The system management driver files are now supplied on this
diskette in the data stream format to preserve the case
sensitivity of the driver file names. All of the following
commands that are entered in a shell prompt are case-sensitive.

To install the System Management device drivers:
               - Open a shell prompt
               - Mount the installation media
                     * For example, if mounting floppy drive 0, type:
                            mount -f dosfs /dev/fd0 /mnt
                     * For example if mounting the default CD-ROM drive, type:
                            mount -f cdfs -o -ro /dev/cdrom/c1b0t0l0 /mnt
               - Install the System Management device drivers
                     * If installing from either a diskette or cdrom, type:
                            pkgadd -d /mnt/UW7ADVMG/UW7ADVMG.DS
               - Follow the directions that appear on the screen.

4.0 Stopping the Netfinity Manager application program
-------------------------------------------------------

If the Netfinity Manager application program is already running on your
Netfinity Server it must be stopped prior to installing any of these
device drivers. The following examples show how to do this.

     For OS/2:
          * Close any open Netfinity windows
          * Open a Command prompt
          * Type: NETFBASE SHUTDOWN

     For NetWare:
          * Unload the Netfinity Support Program

     For SCO UnixWare:
          * Open a shell prompt
          * Type: netfbase.exe SHUTDOWN
(NOTE: This is a case-sensitive statement.)

For more details on how to shutdown the Netfinity application please
          refer to the Netfinity documentation.
