PMFORMAT.EXE

PM interface for hard disk formatting.
This is a replacement for the OS/2 PMFORMAT.EXE program which will
be part of the next version of eComStation.

Installation:

- rename \OS2\PMFORMAT.EXE PMFORMAT.BAK
- copy all executables to \OS2 (or any other PATH directory)
- copy the utility DLL to \OS2\DLL (or any other LIBPATH directory)
- optionally make a program object in the system setup folder

Requirements

eComStation or MCP1 or better (or any version of OS/2 with LVM support)

Synopsys

PMFORMAT [drive:] [-debug]

where :

drive is a valid drive letter
-debug can just be: "-d" or "/d" (case insensitive) is provided
            for troubleshooting purposes

When run without parameters the program provides a list of the available
volumes in a drop down box. When the drive: parameter is specified the
dropdown list is hidden.

To do

- online help.
- NLS.

Notes

If you have installed X-workplace, eWorkPlace or any other enhancer,
which in order to display informations in a status bar of the Drives
folder, continuosly polls the selected drive object, the program might
not work if a removable media is selected.
To solve the problem unselect all the objects in the Drives folder
or hide the status bar.

The problem is due to the fact that while eWorkPlace polls the drive
to keep up to date the Drives folder status bar, the PM SIQ gets filled
and PMFORMAT.EXE cannot complete its initialization as the message
posted by its worker thread cannot get to its foreground window.
